Credit Risk Manager – Models
Specialist Lending Ltd is an innovative specialist consumer lending business, trading as Duologi. Due to business growth, we are expanding our Risk function and currently have a vacancy for a Credit Risk Manager – Models, based in either our London or Basingstoke offices.
Reporting to the Head of Risk, the successful candidate will work within the Duologi Credit Risk team overseeing the analysis and reporting of loan performance across our lending portfolios.
Managing a small team, candidates will be expected to work independently on a range of credit risk processes and be able to effectively prioritise work across multiple projects. As a key member of the risk function within a growing business, you will have the opportunity to get involved in the evaluation of new product launches and business opportunities that require risk assessment before approval.
Duties and responsibilities (not an exhaustive list)
Actively manage the credit risk on a range of loan portfolios, with a focus on acquisition policy and expected loss modelling
Responsible for day to day management of the loan book undertaking regular monitoring and portfolio review to identify drivers of risk
Lead the development and review of PD, EAD, LGD models and methodologies to ensure the accurate estimation of credit losses
Manage and improve utilisation and understanding of credit risk data, working with I.T. and operations teams to make sure credit risk requirements are met and maintained
Identify areas of improvement in acquisition policy and credit risk processes and present recommendations to the senior management team
Support the development of others through coaching, support and sharing best practice
Required Skills and Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end risk model development cycle, from data gathering and cleansing to documentation and presentation to key stakeholders
Experience in producing and reviewing portfolio MI and identifying key messages to escalate to senior management when appropriate
Problem solving mindset, ability to evaluate issues and develop long term strategic plans as well as shorter term mitigation when necessary to meet deadlines
Ability to work under pressure and show a flexible and adaptable approach
Time management skills, with the ability to review, organise and prioritise
Confident in communicating at all levels and adjusting approach to suit the audience
Must be able to effectively liaise with key stakeholders within the business
Excellent oral and written English
Attention to detail
Technical Knowledge
Essential
5+ years working with credit risk scorecards or PD, EAD, LGD models
Understanding of statistical modelling techniques
Advanced knowledge of SAS/WPS code and SQL for statistical analysis
Excel (basic to intermediate level)
Desirable
Python coding ability, or sufficient understanding to review existing code
Good knowledge and understanding FCA Regulations, such as CONC and Consumer Credit legislation (Consumer Credit Act 1974)
